Polygon Management Database

Polygon is a home builder that specializes in building large housing communities. They are based in Bellevue, WW but also have an office in Vancouver, WA. They primarily build housing communities in Washington and Oregon and manage the entire process from construction, to sales, to the post-sale warranty and management process.

The Challenge

Polygon has many housing communities and as a result many different sales offices. Each sales office was using Goldmine to help them track prospects and manage the sales process. Goldmine was less than ideal because it was a confusing interface and did not map at all to Polygon's business or process. Another disadvantage of Goldmine was that all data was stored locally at each sales location. This made it virtually impossible for anyone at the corporate office to review sales activity at these locations.

As a workaround to this limitation Polygon would fax customer information back to the corporate office where it was re-keyed into their back-end tracking database. This was only a partial solution because while corporate users now knew how many prospects each location had, they still had no way to monitor the ongoing sales process. In addition it wasted more time to re-key this data and the process was error prone.

The Solution

Resolute developed a “Metrix” application, an n-tier .NET Winforms database and reporting application. This application is used to manage the construction, marketing, sales and support of new homes built and sold by Polygon Northwest. The data that is collected in each of these stages is consolidated in numerous reports which management uses to track and assess the company's performance. The migration of data from an existing Access database was also an important part of this project.
